Indeed I am thankful. When I look back at the road, see the collection of stones I have collected, pebbles I have removed from my shoes, scars from tripping over the truth while trying to go my own way, I can see only a part of what God’s plan for me is. But I can see the thread of God’s needlework through it all.
The stitches did not always seem to fit the times, the places, the situations as I was going through them, but even with incomplete vision, I can see God’s loving touch. My mom always said that the test of a good piece of embroidery was to turn it over and look at it from the back. “That is where the skill shows,” she would say. While I cannot turn this work over yet, I know enough to know to trust the artist. Today, trust the artist of your life as you enter into this season of Thanksgiving.
