God’s Design

God’s designs regarding you, and His methods of bringing about these designs are infinitely wise.

     Madame Jeanne Guyon, 1648-1717

     French Christian Mystic

I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus, that in every way you were enriched in him in all speech and all knowledge—

     1 Corinthians 1:4-5

Indeed I am thankful.  When I look back at the road, see the collection of stones I have collected, pebbles I have removed from my shoes, scars from tripping over the truth while trying to go my own way, I can see only a part of what God’s plan for me is.  But I can see the thread of God’s needlework through it all.

The stitches did not always seem to fit the times, the places, the situations as I was going through them, but even with incomplete vision, I can see God’s loving touch.  My mom always said that the test of a good piece of embroidery was to turn it over and look at it from the back.  “That is where the skill shows,” she would say.  While I cannot turn this work over yet, I know enough to know to trust the artist.  Today, trust the artist of your life as you enter into this season of Thanksgiving.

Because of Him,
