We live in the present, we dream of the future, but we learn eternal truths from the past.
– Lucy Maud Montgomery, 1874-1942
Canadian Writer
35 Sitting down, He called the twelve and *said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, [a]he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
Mark 9:35
He knew his past, and that of everyone at the table. He knew his future, and that of everyone at the table. He was present with them.
Their eyes were upon him, their ears not always so engaged. He had to do something to make the lesson real, practical.
So he lived it. He served them. His life was the metaphor for being first.
What a task! To follow him, to live like he did and not be judgmental.
Today, as you listen to the song that follows, remember, he knew, he knows, he loves us. What a motivating lesson. He loved all of them at the table just as he loves you.
Because of Him,
Linda
