8-10 Watch out for people who try to dazzle you with big words and intellectual double-talk. They want to drag you off into endless arguments that never amount to anything. They spread their ideas through the empty traditions of human beings and the empty superstitions of spirit beings. But that’s not the way of Christ. Everything of God gets expressed in him, so you can see and hear him clearly. You don’t need a telescope, a microscope, or a horoscope to realize the fullness of Christ, and the emptiness of the universe without him. When you come to him, that fullness comes together for you, too. His power extends over everything.
~ Colossians 2:9-10
To be interested in the changing seasons is a happier state of mind than to be hopelessly in love with spring.
~ George Santayana
I traveled the circuit this morning at Curves, sweatin’ with the other flowers in the garden. We moved to the prompt, “Change stations now.” One must make at least two complete rounds before one is finished. There was one woman made it her work to let everyone that walked through the door that the air conditioning was not yet repaired. Her comments were nearly as regular as the “change” prompt.
A new woman came in and said how much cooler it was. She had all of three minutes before she was informed and corrected. She was interested in drumming up unrest toward the air conditioning company. Most of us realized that not answering was the better response. If only each woman could have had the freedom to find out for themselves what the climate was, the workout would have been much more invigorating.
Today, before listening too hard to the “forecaster” try checking the weather for yourself, measure it against what you know, what you feel, what you think. Then spread the news in a whole new way. Perhaps instead of having a day too hot for words, you will have experienced a perfect summer day with several highlights.
Let it Rain!
Because of Him,
