To be wise you must first have reverence for the Lord. If you know the Holy One, you have understanding.
~ Proverbs 9:10
A wise man can see more from the bottom of a well than a fool can from a mountain top.
When you are at the bottom of a well, there is really only one place to look that renders hope. Up. You may be damp, surrounded by unsavory creatures, thieves, untold wealth. You may discover writing on walls, but with no light, with no direction, with no hope all of these are for naught.
Sometimes, getting out of that well is as simple as taking a mental health day, some times you have to actually ask for help. I am really good at asking for help with things that I think it is okay for me not to know, even things that may appear obvious to others. (If I want to know, I am not afraid to ask!) But there are some things that require looking up to ask, things that cannot be uttered to another soul, things that you need to pray for direction about just who to speak to. The key here is God. If I do not give it to God, I am holding on to it, like Indiana Jones and the Carpenter’s cup. The key in finding it was the focus, as was the key in letting it go.
Wisdom comes in the focus. Today, try and keep your eyes on God, the things of God, not the things of this earth.
