So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. I am the door; if any one enters by me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
There they stand, the innumerable stars, shining in order like a living hymn, written in light.
The thief in the case of this clip is a witch, who of course represents evil. She breaks all that which could reflect light, on her mission of death and destruction. As she approaches Yvaine and Tristen, she threatens with more hurt and destruction. Yvaine remembers who she is and what she does and asks Tristan the magical question, “What do stars do?,” and then she answers it, “Shine!” All the darkness is vanquished and the the witch breaks up and is blown away as the light fills the room, opens all the doors, restores balance.
It is just before the darkness envelops that this happens, just before the joy, the rescue, the acceptance of a royal pronouncement.
Right now, from where you stand, death may be raising it’s arm, ready to strike, the darkness may seem to be closing in. But you were meant for more than this. Look to the east and shine!
Because of Him,
