Trail of Light

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

     ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

24-26 Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

     ~ Matthew 16:25

What an interesting set of directions!  Blaze a trail, and don’t lead.

Yesterday, I felt such a mix of emotions.  Happy to be a leader, happy to be a follower of the King, happy to be done with school, an ambivalent about not knowing the latest gossip about whatever tv show was being discussed.  And then I thought,  “In the world, not of it.”

Then I went through a period of feeling low.  Then I got excited because, riding on the hem of His garment, I can follow the Lord, be a leader and keep an eye out for important things from one important location, leaving a trail of light.

Today, leave a trail of light.

Help Me Find It

Because of Him,

Linda
