Patience is a Form of Action

Patience is also a form of action.

~ Auguste Rodin

Jesus said, “Throw your lot in with the One that God has sent. That kind of a commitment gets you in on God’s works.”

~ John 6:29

Many years ago a young woman in a church I was attending had a special prayer request. She was 16 years old and was trying to grow in the spirit the way I’d like to lose weight…overnight! A small group and prayed her request to God. We spent some time with her and all-at-once she picked her head up and said, “Come on Holy Spirit, I want it now!”

We concluded that prayer. We reserved comment. We observed her impatience. We also moved along to the next request, leaving the last words in her ears to be her own. I do not know the outcome of that prayer. I do know she married that summer (at 16) and moved away. I also know that, thirty some odd years later, the couple is still married. Apparently she developed some patience over that time, and is a part of God’s good works.

She was up for throwing in her lot with the One that God sent,
she was not ready to be patient at that time, but that she was willing to commit to the Lord and build her trust in Him.

Today, pray just one more time, thanking God for hearing your prayer, and trusting that the good work is not far behind.
