Bozo the Punching Bag

Politeness is the art of choosing among one’s real thoughts.

     ~Abel Stevens

What a God we have! And how fortunate we are to have him, this Father of our Master Jesus! Because Jesus was raised from the dead, we’ve been given a brand-new life and have everything to live for, including a future in heaven—and the future starts now! God is keeping careful watch over us and the future. The Day is coming when you’ll have it all—life healed and whole.
     ~ 1 Peter 1:3
Yesterday was a day when I felt a kinship with Bozo the Clown punching bag.   There was one punch for the Father, Son and Holy Ghost!  Faithful friend was near, others not so much. All about things not in my control.
I consciously asked God to remind me that there must be a blessing on the other side of the final round, and the punches just kept on coming.
I did not eat a bag of anything, consume copious amounts of anything, take it out on anyone.  I did write a letter to my family chronicling the day.  That felt good.  I got it all out.  And I did leave a position within the organization. I had simply had enough.
Then when I got up this morning, the scripture reminded me that there is indeed a blessing both here and in the future.
Don’t lose your focus!   I was so tempted to lash out, to make a scene, to answer back.  A little of that leaked out in the last round, but for the most part, I held it together, worked out at my favorite gym and came home a more civil person.
Today, acknowledge your anger, write a letter to yourself even if your intended recipient is someone else, just to get it all out, and then give it to the only one who knows what to do with it.
Because of Him,
