Short Order, Tall Order

Life is the hyphen between matter and spirit.
~ Augustus William Hare and Julius Charles Hare
So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.
  ~ Romans 12:1-2
I had this vision of hopping in a large offering plate and seeing where that took me.  I know that I would be collected, transported to another place, counted, deposited and then used where the need was greatest.
The plate itself passes by many, is not always contributed to by others, sometimes gets notes to God placed in it as well as food items.  The intent is that it is for God and God uses it as God sees fit.  If I am in the plate, and fixing my attention on God, I am not looking to see what others are doing, I am not worried about where I am going between deposit and use,  I am happy about the deposit bag, but the fabric need not be fashionable.  I will rise and be counted no matter what my earthly worth.
Not a bad assignment.
Because of Him,
