Walking on Sunshine

Thanksgiving is the holiday of peace, the celebration of work and the simple life… a true folk-festival that speaks the poetry of the turn of the seasons, the beauty of seedtime and harvest, the ripe product of the year — and the deep, deep connection of all these things with God.
     ~ Ray Stannard Baker (David Grayson)

Make them holy—consecrated—with the truth;
Your word is consecrating truth.

     ~ John 17:17

     There is that word again.  That word that is lighting the path is now being used in consecration.  Just what is consecration you might ask?  (I looked it up just to be sure!)
Merriam Webster defines consecration as: dedicated to a sacred purpose.

     What does that look like, feel like?  I remember as a kid we’d be at a sleepover and inevitably someone would ask if we’d like an “egg” cracked over our head.  We had to close our eyes and imagine this egg, but it went roughly like this:  the other person would clench their fist in one hand, holding it lightly on the other’s head and use the flat of their other hand to lightly “crack” the egg.  After the egg was cracked, the hands would open, and lightly touch the hair in a top to bottom motion.  It actually felt like an egg dripping down over my head, but in a good way.

     I later came to recognize a similar sensation when the Holy Spirit became manifest in a room, or within me.  So you not only have the light of the word to walk by, you are dripping in the joy of the truth of that word and you have been made sacred.  Better than an invisibility cloak any day!
Walking on Sunshine!

Because of Him,
Linda
