New Moon

Horses and children, I often think, have a lot of the good sense there is in the world.

The Word was first,
the Word present to God,
    God present to the Word.
The Word was God,
in readiness for God from day one.

     ~ John 1:1-2

November began with a purposeful posting of quotes about Thankfulness and Thanksgiving.  It started out as an angry response to retailers beginning the Christmas earlier and earlier, but what I found was this:  as the month progressed, I was more and more thankful, more and more tolerant, more and more appreciative of the small things.  And something I had not guessed:  I was ready for the first Sunday in Advent. My heart was ready to prepare for the birth of our Savior.

I noticed a new moon begins in darkness, and then the first hint of light. The growing orb expanding to illuminate the sky, so close it feels as if one can touch it.  Like a birth.

The baby is kicking, stretching, swimming, responding to music, his Father’s voice, listening to the angels,  that can still be heard on the edge of a new home.   I may just propose that merchants keep a “Dickens” corner in their shops that so we may truly keep Christmas in our hearts all the year long.

Today, notice the light in the small places, the small spaces.
He is coming!

Because of Him,
Linda
