Ornaments

The ornaments of your house will be the guests who frequent it.

Going through a long line of prophets, God has been addressing our ancestors in different ways for centuries. Recently he spoke to us directly through his Son. By his Son, God created the world in the beginning, and it will all belong to the Son at the end. This Son perfectly mirrors God, and is stamped with God’s nature. He holds everything together by what he says—powerful words!

~ Hebrews 1:1-2

Can you imagine your words holding something together?  Someone speaking a truth, or giving a piece of advice, or an overheard conversation that gave you life?

I’ll bet you can count the times when someone’s words made a difference, and just where you were, or at the very least, what the gist of their words were.  There are words that stand like illuminated gifts in my mind’s eye.  Words like Wilbur had over his head in Charlotte’s Web.  “Terrific,” “Radiant,” “Some Pig.”

You get the idea.  Of course there are words that can tear you apart, pierce like a poison dart, wound to the heart.  We have all heard those.  No matter what the words, one word from God can change everything!

Today, let the darts go, focus on the life, the “terrific, radiant, some you,” words that your heavenly Father has spoken to you.
These too will be ornaments in your home, and your heart.

Because of Him,
Linda
