Then Jesus turned to the Jews who had claimed to believe in him. “If you stick with this, living out what I tell you, you are my disciples for sure. Then you will experience for yourselves the truth, and the truth will free you.”
~ John 8:31-32
“The time is always right to do what is right.”
Our pastor has just begun a series on the ten commandments. There were many good examples of what they are, but no matter what our pastor said, all I could hear was my father. “Linda, the ten commandments are like goal posts, it is where you always aim.”
Pastor Tim talked about Judge Roy Moore, former chief justice of Alabama hauling around the ten commandments on a semi after losing his battle to publicly display them (http://www.religion-online.org/showarticle.asp?title=3333).
What caught my ear in the sermon was when our pastor mentioned where the ten commandments were kept. He said they were”tucked in to the Ark of the Covenant.”
The image I took away from all of this was a blending of the two; the Ten Commandments tucked inside my heart, while I aim for the goal posts!
