No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn’t go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help, to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person’s failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.
~ John 3:16-18
The journey is long (or short) but the traveler is required to trust as they go. Trust in the roads, the maps, possibly the GPS, the airlines, the railways. The traveler needs to trust that all the equipment is in order, the maintenance crew has taken care of the rails, roads, engines, etc. When one begins to consider all that is required to travel, it can be overwhelming.
I could turn all that trust into worry in a heartbeat, or, I could trust in the Lord. The Lord who knows me from before I was given flesh, the Lord who goes before me and has given me armor that is trustworthy, the Lord who has my back, and is all around me and even in adversity can speak peace beyond understanding.
For me, it is hard to trust someone whose word is unreliable, who has not come through for me multiple times, or that says, “trust me,” for the first time. And the more travel experience I have, the harder that gets. But I know that God is trustworthy, and I know that God sent Jesus. I know that Jesus has never let me down…I can trust Jesus. If you haven’t tried it, it is worthy for you to consider.
Lord, you know the roads, the other travelers, the pitfalls, the glories, the sights and the sounds of today’s roads. Keep my feet where you want them to go, help me to shine your light on the other travelers.
Because of Him,
