Then Will I Hear

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.
     ~Tenneva Jordan
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
~ 1 Chronicles 7:14
In the act of unselfishness, God shines.
It is a quiet act, oft unexpected,
always God directed.
Putting the beloved first.  God shines.
Not an act scored by music,
Often missed, but not the magic.
To the future she has gazed.God shines.
Her guidance, in wisdom steeped.
That steps in His path, keep.
Though scolding, or enfolding, God shines.
with intent to form another,
that follows God just like their mother.
In her protection, God shines.
Shielding the child against a danger.
at her own risk, eye toward the manger.
Where in another mother shone.
She knew His path, gave him protection.
She knew well His life’s direction.
I watched a sister in the Lord yesterday.  She was consoling, supporting, coaxing life, affirming it, mourning with a beloved member as he stood up against several recent blows. Loss of wife, lose of daughter…all in a few short years.  His prayer always that God would lead him through.  I marveled at her skills, her gentleness, her sparkle, her steady uplift.  Her eyes to the cross, like those of Mary. Her arms at the ready.
I felt the Lord close my mouth that I might listen.  My best gift a hug and to listen. Heaven was that close, spilling light between them, healing that patch of land, and moving us all.
Today, listen.
Because of Him,
