New Eyes Please

The chains of habit are generally too small to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.

 ~ Samuel Johnson

Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

~ Philippians 4:6-7

It shouldn’t matter.  Each time we are together, I do my best to be kind, sensitive, generous, mindful…you get the idea.  I am trying to be a good friend, and a good witness.
But if you were to look at a timeline of the hours before each encounter, you would not think you were listening to the same person.  Angst, anger, turmoil, fear, bitterness, worry, insecurity adorn my gut, and the atmosphere that surrounds my preparation.  Last night it woke me up.  And last night I gave it back to God.  Again.  It is clear that God is present in the big picture, but those snapshots!  Emotional spaghetti!  Not attractive, not helpful. And after?  Exhaustion.
Dear Lord,  Help me to see this relationship through your eyes, in a new and living way.  Please give me peace.  Your peace that passes all understanding.  Help me to remember to pray.
In Jesus’ name.

Because of Him,
Linda
