You along the road…

The road that is built in hope is more pleasant to the traveler than the road built in despair, even though they both lead to the same destination.

Attention, all! See the marvels of God!
He plants flowers and trees all over the earth,
Bans war from pole to pole,
breaks all the weapons across his knee.
“Step out of the traffic! Take a long,
loving look at me, your High God,
    above politics, above everything.”

     ~ Psalm 46:8-10

I had a whole other thought in my head about what to say this morning before I saw a post by a former student of mine.  He was driving along the road and saw a baby walking near the yellow line in the middle of the road.  He pulled over and picked up the baby and took him to the nearest house where he found the family around the dinner table…with nary a clue about the baby’s whereabouts.
Here, the intent of the road builder played little part in the outcome, but this young father stepped out of the traffic and was the arms and hands of God in a very dangerous place.
Had it not been for John, the story might have had a very different outcome.
You are the hands of God so very often, ministering to strangers, friends, enemies.  You may not see where your touch has an effect, but God knows.  I thank God for all of you, who take the time to stop, and look, and know that God loves you, and that you are the love of God on this road.

     Because of Him,
