The Slumber of Routine

Heaven is blessed with perfect rest but the blessing of earth is toil.

        ~ Henry van Dyke

The mystery in a nutshell is just this: Christ is in you, so therefore you can look forward to sharing in God’s glory. It’s that simple. That is the substance of our Message. We preach Christ, warning people not to add to the Message. We teach in a spirit of profound common sense so that we can bring each person to maturity.
       ~ Colossians 1:28
Common sense is so underrated, and so lacking.  And sometimes those who possess it lose their vision when encompassed with pressure and/or emotion.  I am not known for my skills with numbers, but I was taught some simple formulas and routines that work for me.  My husband is incredibly gifted with numbers (and so much else!) and he was in a quandary about a particular expense and how to estimate the number when the data was not recorded.
I quickly came up with the formula that I was taught, and he was able to proceed.  If he had not been mired in grieving, no doubt he’d have been able to recall the formula, but the numbers would not come because of other factors.
Sometimes we see others that we depend on lost for what to do next.  And we get frustrated because they are not who they used to be, or not who we expect them to be, and it throws off our routine.  If we return to the simple message of Christ risen and us forgiven and a new creature in Christ, we can deal more readily with the blessings of toil on earth, and be more tolerant and kinder in the long run.
Today, pray for that one who is fallen from routine.  It may be God’s way of waking you.
Because of Him,
