Parents

When you have brought up kids, there are memories you store directly in your tear ducts.
                                      ~Robert Brault

These are the words in my mouth;
these are what I chew on and pray.
Accept them when I place them
    on the morning altar,
O God, my Altar-Rock,
    God, Priest-of-My-Altar.
                                     ~ Psalm 19:14

Today, I lift up all the parents, purposeful, accidental, by de-fault parents.  You who have it in your heart to train up your child in the way they should go, you who read countless blogs, read to your children, consult with physicians, drive your children to their activities, those who limit those activities so you can have dinner together several times a week.
I lift you up, those of you who are still children yourselves, those who mentor a child as if they are your own, those of you who take instruction, those of you who do not.
I lift you up those of you who homeschool, those of you who set your children’s boats off into the public schools letting them shine in the world, those of you who stopped smoking so your kids will grow up with healthier lungs.
Be ye lifted up those who color, read, swim, play dress-ups, run with, cheer on those children who have been given to you.
Those who sit up praying, watching, soothing those children, you are lifted.
I lift you up those of you who have tried so often and miscarried, those of you who do the physical therapy your children require, who cook, sing, build with your children.
I lift you up, those who let their children make your own mistakes, and are there for them when they discover a new path.
I lift you up to the everlasting Father, and leave this line for you to fill in your own request for being lifted : Lord, lift __________________ up today and everyday as they __________________.
I lift those of you up who bend down, to reach a child, to get on your knees , who get down so your children can see the love in your eyes, the expression on your face.
You will be comforted by the Heavenly parent who does the same for you, for me, for us.  Because this parent knows all the pain you have ever experienced.
Finally, I lift all of you who have agonized over your decisions to give up your children, and pray for them every day, for those who have no strength to turn from dark places to find the light that is waiting for you, for those who see no end to the path other than another bend.  The God of love waits for you, watches you as you move on the path to God’s arms.
    Because of Him,
    Linda
