Make it so, Lord

The struggle ends when the gratitude begins.

            ~ Neale Donald Walsch
Now I’m returning to you.
I’m saying these things in the world’s hearing
So my people can experience
My joy completed in them.
I gave them your word;
The godless world hated them because of it,
Because they didn’t join the world’s ways,
Just as I didn’t join the world’s ways.
I’m not asking that you take them out of the world
But that you guard them from the Evil One.
They are no more defined by the world
Than I am defined by the world.
Make them holy—consecrated—with the truth;
Your word is consecrating truth.
In the same way that you gave me a mission in the world,
I give them a mission in the world.
I’m consecrating myself for their sakes
So they’ll be truth-consecrated in their mission.
          ~ John 17: 17-19
I have told you about me disturbing a hornet’s
nest that fell into a yellow-jacket nest.
How my daughter picked the little
bodies off me after I was safe inside my home.
That is how your words affect me.
I cannot see them coming.
I feel their sting over and over.
There is not enough benadryl
to cause them to fall like hail
on a metal roof.
There is enough grace.
Grace that allows me
to stay focused on the One.
Grace that follows me
into my dreams
that I might see you
as the strong woman you are,
as the amazing purveyor of knowledge,
as someone who is in the construction
business, not demolition,
the way
you were meant to be.
Make it so Lord, Make it so.
Because of Him,
