Shining in the Darkness

May love and light fill your home and heart at Hanukkah.

“I am the Vine, you are the branches. When you’re joined with me and I with you, the relation intimate and organic, the harvest is sure to be abundant. Separated, you can’t produce a thing. Anyone who separates from me is deadwood, gathered up and thrown on the bonfire. But if you make yourselves at home with me and my words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon. This is how my Father shows who he is—when you produce grapes, when you mature as my disciples.

Jesus is the server, the shamash candle in the center. The shamash is used to light all the other candles, it is also known as the helper candle, the server candle.  When we ask Jesus into our lives, He lights us.  We shine, and the Jesus in us helps others to find the light, be lit with the word of God.
I like the Barry Manilow song that I shared because the audience response is light, increasing as the song grows, like the light of God, like the choir that assists.
Today, let the Helper, the Servant of all rekindle your wick, encourage your flame, that you might encourage others.
Lord, help me to be willing to be light in the darkness, showing forth your flame, your light that all the world will know the love of the Father.
Because of Him,
