Gratitude

We should give as we would receive, cheerfully, quickly, and without hesitation; for there is no grace in a benefit that sticks to the fingers.
                                                                      ~ Seneca

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
                                                                    ~ 1 Corinthians 2:9
He gives because he loves.  So does she. In many little invisible ways.  They fix an appliance, fold laundry, put away groceries, sweep the floor, play the alto line just a little more prominently, gesture in a way that causes you to sing the right phrase in time, things you would have had to know needed doing to know that they were done, but not always visible right away.
At work it is the same, a colleague signs up for a workshop just to be supportive,  a cup of coffee appears on my desk unasked for, but welcome.  A group of kids just decide I need a hug and don’t ask, just hug.
None of these want anything in return, it is the fruit of their love.  An unexpected package arrives in the mail.  It is not something I am due, it is something released in love by the sender.
The joy in this is that all the givers are so busy giving, doing, being kind, being God’s hands, that there is no time for sticky fingers.

Today, give from your heart, as if the receiver is the Lord of all because He is. Stand in the grace of the gift and thank the Lord.

Lord, thank you for all the gifts I can see, and even more for the ones that I cannot.  They fill the atmosphere with your love, sweetens the very air that I breathe.

Because of Him,
Linda
