If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.
~ Mother Teresa
You need to know, friends, that thanking God over and over for you is not only a pleasure; it’s a must. We have to do it. Your faith is growing phenomenally; your love for each other is developing wonderfully. Why, it’s only right that we give thanks. We’re so proud of you; you’re so steady and determined in your faith despite all the hard times that have come down on you. We tell everyone we meet in the churches all about you.
~ 2 Thessalonians 1:3
They were there, dotting my life, unbeknownst to the other, saying kind words, being positive. Consistently crossing my path, over days, weeks, years, even decades. Then, all at once, they re-surfaced like a treasure unearthed by a storm, bobbing to the surface of my life. Social media assisted with this treasure discovery.
These folks who had been on the periphery of my living, suddenly emerged as shining stars in the firmament of every day. They had chosen to heed the call of God and follow. The stories ensued, how we had been in many places at the same time, or during the same period, all following the Fisher of Men (and women!)
Here I am at the other side of it, and these gems are my friends once more, only this time we know what we have in common, revealed by fire, determined in their “despite all the hard times.”
God has brought us all through some fiery trials, burnishing us with the cloth of His mercy, nourishing us with the truth of God’s word, moving us closer to him, and each other.
Today, praise God for those friends who have surfaced, serving God. God is the common denominator in so much more than we know. Lift these gems up to the Crown Maker, that they may be set with the hand that knows just how to let the light reveal their beauty.
Give thanks for them.
Lord, thank you for the diamonds in the rough and out, that you have set into my life to help guide, direct, move me closer to you and to each other. Bless them richly Lord. Let the churches tell their tales.
Because of Him,
