At the Bottom

Just as important as having a list of priorities is every once in a while starting from the bottom.
     ~ Robert Brault
There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.
  ~ 1 John 4:18
My husband and I just spent a week in South Carolina.  We slept in, we ate out, we walked the beach, we visited beautiful gardens of sculpture and poetry, we stopped in a the local church in our denomination, we visited family and friends.  I cannot speak for him, but I can tell you that I feel that my soul began to shed its dry, wintered exterior and begin to breathe once more.
Fear indeed is crippling indeed.  So often, we leave our own self care at the bottom of the list, and nothing ever seems to move on the to do list above, so we get left at the bottom. I am sure we know others who always have themselves at the top, and little else.  This week, just talking, being together, enjoying each other’s company and walking together was better than any of the local attractions, because we shared it.
Today, look at the bottom of your list?  What or who have you been leaving to the last?  What or whoever it is will be a good exercise…in love. God’s love.  God’s love for you.
Because of Him,
