What Thou Has’t Giv’n

Spring makes its own statement, so loud and clear that the gardener seems to be only one of the instruments, not the composer.

But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master.
                                    ~ Romans 6:23
All life, both weed and bloom
     pushes forth through fertile ground.
     It seems sometimes, that weed
chokes the bloom, muffles its sound.
     But for the gard’ner’s hand
the bloom’s sweet face would but be crushed.
     Steadied weeding, pruning now
gives voice to what weed would crush.
Let me tend what Thou has’t giv’n
with a hand that’s wise and true
that I will recognize the worth
as I am that bloom in You.
Because of Him,
