Things are never quite as scary when you have a best friend.
Everyone has to die once, then face the consequences. Christ’s death was also a one-time event, but it was a sacrifice that took care of sins forever. And so, when he next appears, the outcome for those eager to greet him is, precisely, salvation.
The cartoon below as created by Bill Watterson for his “Calvin and Hobbes” comic strip. This image for me sums up what I have been feeling for the past few weeks; Jesus is right there. All the time. Best friends that are a gift in the world come and go. Relationships come and go, but Jesus has always got us. We are safe in His arms.
All of this alone-ness I have experienced is real, but I am very much aware of the arms of the Lord right now.
He’s got me. He’s got you too.
Because of Him,
