I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ; That in every thing ye are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
~ 1 Corinthians 1:4-5
This weekend, my mother-in-law was interred far from the place she has lived for 20 years. This brought together a whole new group of folks, and the family that was not able to make it to Maine when mom passed in July.
There was much to celebrate; the weather was just beautiful, not a cloud in the sky, sixty degrees and just lovely. We gathered and sang “When Morning Gilds the Skies,” and “It is Well With My Soul.” and we told stories and just celebrated her life.
I am very insecure about walking into a place where there are lots of people and wondering where I am going to sit. My friend and walking buddy for many years had already taken care of that. She found the table, gathered some folks and my husband and I were set. There was a wonderful spirit at that table, and a wonderful time of sharing. The Lord showed me some fruit that I had not expected to see and the day took on a whole new hue. I was pleased that the minister took her place with us as well.
Getting home was nothing short of a nightmare, as we got stuck on the New Jersey side of the Hudson River and it took four hours to get into and out of New York City (no it is NOT our preferred route!). A four hour trip became and 8 hour trip. We were so thankful to get home safely, and that the snow held off until last night.
Thank you Lord, for your presence at our every turn, for the unexpected joys of reuniting with old friends, for the joy of being with our daughter for eight hours and enjoying her company, for our safe arrival home.
Today walk forth in thanksgiving. Look for the unexpected joys.
Because of Him,
