Hold On to Each Other

In the coldest February, as in every other month in every other year, the best thing to hold on to in this world is each other. ~Linda Ellerbee, Move On: Adventures in the Real World, 1991

Attention, Israel!

God, our God! God the one and only!

Love God, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!

Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Our pastor is determined to lift the lordship of Jesus higher. Higher than our thoughts, our logic, our earthly wisdom. She cited this article on Sunday as she reminded us that we are indeed neither a red church or a blue church, but a purple church, one that represents many viewpoints.

She referenced the article below and talked about the Bibles that the President used to be sworn in, and that the woman who signed the President’s Sunday School Bible is still alive, in a church whose face has changed over the course of its life from one complexion to another.

Pastor encouraged us to look to the Sovereign of us all, and remember that we need to pray for our leaders, and do our best to love one another and come together. We must be a “purple” church over all else and embrace each other in the midst of the differences as we answer to Jesus Christ, the Lord of all, the Light, God made flesh.

Today, as you go about your work, remember who it is that we all must kneel to, and answer to.  Let that guide your words, your actions, your year.

        Because of Him,

         Linda
