Community of the Spirit

“Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”
      ~ John Muir

If you’ve gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don’t push your way to the front; don’t sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don’t be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.
     ~ Philippians 2:1-4

We are a community of the spirit. We need to walk together in times where we agree, and times where we don’t. As these recent natural disasters have shown, all the walls fall away when trouble abounds.

Lend that helping hand, be kind to that miserable creature who vexes you. It will raise both of you.  Walk and wash your spirit clean, run along the shore of a lake, walk the shoreline.
      You will rise.

I Will Rise – Shawn McDonald.

Lord, help me to love my enemies, and find common ground to walk upon with you.

Because of Him,
Linda
