A Note to God
Winter pressed down like an anvil
dense upon the earth,
no small patch to walk on,
no swelling greening mirth.
Then you breathed upon it,
ice and snow uncurled,
leaving spring’s bright promise
your reminder to the world.

as your breath we feel,
guide us to your chosen path,
