I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

Be master of your petty annoyances and conserve your energies for the big, worthwhile things.

                                                        ~ Robert Service

Don’t brashly announce what you’re going to do tomorrow;
you don’t know the first thing about tomorrow.

                                                          ~ Proverbs 27:1

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

I wrote of a situation yesterday.  A tough one.  I even made a claim after I wrote the devotional.  I said, “The only way that _____ is if God changes my heart.”  I received a beautiful note from one of you and then, after appreciating it, moved on through my day.

Somewhere around dinner, after an amazing day of joyful circumstances, I felt it.  Something in my heart changed, and the whole tone of my attitude relaxed, breathed.

It was a day I could not have had during a normal week.  But this is no normal week.
“Many things about tomorrow, I don’t try and understand, but I know who holds tomorrow, and I know who holds my hand.”
I don’t know where you are walking today, but let Jesus take your hand.   And thank you Ev.

      Because of Him,
       Linda

Tomorrow? Ridin’ the Hem…

Coming together is a beginning.  Keeping together is progress.  Working together is success.

Yep. Made it.  It’s Friday.  So why am I not jumping up and down?  Not sure yet.  It could be that some days my schedule allows for thinking, moving, getting to the rest room, and others it allows for nearly none of those things.  This is not a criticism, but an observation and the acknowledgement that I have not control, no vision for what is being accomplished here, not even a hint.

Oh I have a new person to plunge into the cleansing flood, an irregular lunch time (not an easy challenge,) and a small team.  A team that is working together more than ever, a team that God has given peace to in the midst of the rushing waters.  A team that is standing like the Quiltmaker on the rock in the middle of the storm and is rescued by many, many little sparrows.  (The Quiltmaker’s Gift by Jeff Brumbeau, illustrated by Gail DeMarcken http://www.quiltmakersgift.com/).
I just know that we have to get through today, and ride that hem that is healing us.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow
Today, ride the hem, praise the name of the Living God, and let God work out the details.
Because of Him,
Linda

Tomorrow

It’s  simple things, like a glowing sunset, the sound of a running stream or the fresh smell in a meadow that cause us to pause and marvel at the wonder of life, to contemplate its meaning and significance.  Who can hold an autumn leaf in their hand, or sift the warm white sand on the beach, and not wonder at the Creator of it all?

     Wendy Moore, 1971-

     American Writer

Do not boast about tomorrow,
for you do not know what a day may bring.

     Proverbs 27:1

It is important to take the time to stop.  Stop, pull the car over if you need to and look.  Look out at the incoming tide, the imminent sunset, the trees bowing to the wind.  Taking a picture is always a good memory jogger, but if you have never stopped, smelled the salt in the air, or the electricity after a lightning strike, watched a butterfly land on a broad leaf and see the streaks of blue, the picture will help to recall what you saw, not what you experienced.

Tomorrow, a hurricane could alter that view, a fire could destroy it, a volcano might cover it in ash, a builder could put up a row of McMansions.   I have seen people stand and just look.  One gentleman told me he was looking at what used to be there so he could “see” it again.

Then there is the human hand.  Just taking the time to look at it, remember what it looked like when you were little, the things it built. I used to love to smell my mother’s skin when I was little.  Only recently have I discovered that my own skin smells that way.  It is a bittersweet memory, but I cherish it because it brings me closer to her.

Today, stop.  Set your timer if you have to and then don’t look at the clock. Be in that moment.  The Creator of the Universe is as close as your breath.
