High Anxiety and a Kind Word

The pearl is the queen of gems and the gem of queens.

         ~ Author Unknown

Congenial conversation—what a pleasure!
The right word at the right time—beautiful!

       ~ Proverbs 15:23

Anxiety.  That was the word.  Feeling the pressure of leadership in a particular place at a very particular time.  It was growing, and rather than let it eat me up,  I found a friend with whom I could discuss the situation.  She told me she would worry about those small details, and I should concentrate on the big picture because “You get it, I don’t.”

I would not necessarily describe myself as a big picture person.   The needs of the individual are very clear to me when I am teaching. Sometimes I get lost in over-focusing.  But that kind word…unlocked the door and showed anxiety the way out.

Today, laugh, find a way to give someone a kind word, a gentle pat on the shoulder, a note in their lunch.  You will be the gem of queens in their day’s necklace.

You’re an Overcomer!

A painter paints pictures on canvas.  But musicians paint their pictures on silence.  ~Leopold Stokowski

I’m sure now I’ll see God’s goodness
    in the exuberant earth.
Stay with God!
    Take heart. Don’t quit.
I’ll say it again:
    Stay with God.

Psalm 27:14

I was observed by a close friend yesterday.  Not in the traditional school sense, but in the “I love you” sense.  She observed that I am over-committed again.  She has not seen this for some time, but she is experiencing it now.  She sees me running from here to there, doing at least one too many things and showing signs of “about to crack.”

I have this antique lemonade pitcher that has what is called a “stress fracture” that occurred in the making of the piece.  I don’t believe this is a built in occurrence because I can almost feel it impending.  This is the result of trying to be the best teacher I can be, a good citizen, a good friend, a good chair (of a ministry,) a good mom, a good wife.  Taking a look at all of this, it is apparent that somethings are already suffering.  Most of it has to do with anxiety about not doing the job to the best of my ability and, to be honest, being perceived as old.  Now for a laugh!(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFu4Wwp7ObU  (High Anxiety – Mel Brooks)

But I know, with the help of my family and music and letting go.  We are overcomers!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWqSjj90gU4
Mandisa, Overcomer.

Have a great day, you’re an overcomer too!
Because of Him,
